Josep Miquel Torregrosa is an Industrial Engineer with a Master in Project Management at La Salle Business School and Executive MBA from ESADE. In addition, has completed several programs related to investment, administration or startup commercial strategies. Currently, he is the director of InnoEnergy’s business creation area for Spain and Portugal. InnoEnergy puts all their experience at the service of the entrepreneurs that participate in Cleantech Camp to help start-up projects or those in early stages become reality. The company has more than six years of accelerating and investing in startups and SMEs in the energy sector and clean technologies.

“Our greatest interest is to help entrepreneurs to make their projects a reality, so that they are able to add value to society and generate wealth through the creation of their companies.”

InnoEnergy is one of the promoters of the Cleantech Camp. Why did you decide to promote this program?

We can consider that the Cleantech Camp is an evolution of the Eco Emprendedor XXI program, in which we began to participate as sponsors. It was a program that was completely aligned with our activity and in which we were involved and participating more and more actively. After several editions, we considered that it was time to give a new impetus to the initiative and create a new brand. In this case, Cleantech Camp, which starts from scratch and in which we incorporate new partners to enhancing the international dimension of the program.

” This year, 70 projects have been presented—a figure that represents 40% more than the 50 of the last edition.”

What would you highlight about this year’s edition of Cleantech Camp?

The increase in the number of proposals that we have received. This year, 70 projects have been presented—a figure that represents 40% more than the 50 of the last edition. This data is an indication of the interest generated by Cleantech Camp after three editions. It also helps us to be able to make a selection of projects with great potential. In addition, the program has submitted nominations with an increasingly extensive geographical area. We have received projects from many parts of the Iberian Peninsula.

Finally, I would also like to point out that this year, the Municipal Chamber of Porto has joined Cleantech Camp. That is turning to the program and helps us to strengthen our position in Portugal.

Therefore, we can affirm that the program is in an excellent state of health…

Both InnoEnergy and the other partners that are part of the program are very satisfied with their reception and the quality of the proposals we have received. Our main interest is to help entrepreneurs make their projects a reality.  So that, they are able to contribute value to society and generate wealth through the creation of their companies.

What benefits does participation in Cleantech Camp bring to a new business?

The projects that participate in the program have an excellent opportunity to develop their proposal and validate it. They can detect its strengths and those aspects that must be improved to make it a reality and make sense in the market. Furthermore, some projects have the possibility to enter the acceleration and investment programs promoted by InnoEnergy. Besides this, they can become clients of the industrial partners of the program. They are very receptive with innovative projects developed by startups.

” (…) we look for solutions that are related to technology capable of storing, consuming or managing energy more efficiently.”

What solutions are you looking for in the current edition of Cleantech Camp?

In general, we look for solutions that are related to technology capable of storing, consuming or managing energy more efficiently. We have a special interest in generation of self-consumption, sustainable mobility and the application of new technologies to the energy sector.

What applications related to clean energy do you think have a brighter future, or are more necessary for our society?

On the one hand, we can highlight everything related to energy efficiency—an area with a lot of potential. On the other hand, solutions aimed at promoting sustainable mobility, the electric vehicle and the recharging infrastructure. This is a field in which there is already demand that is growing exponentially. Another area in a phase of exploration is the one related to the application of new technologies to the energy sector. That includes applications related to Smart Grids, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence or Big Data.

What advice would you give to an entrepreneur who has a project related to clean energy?

First of all, be able to identify the benefits of the solution that it poses. Then, detect who can become its beneficiaries. The next step would be speak to them to verify that their project makes sense in the market. It is also very important the ability to create a good team to develop their proposal. Finally, I would recommend that you contact us. We are the ideal partner to help you in the development of a project related to clean energy.
